Selection Process for Join Indian Army SSC Technical Vacancy

  1. Application Shortlisting
    • Applications are shortlisted by the Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) based on a cutoff percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying degree (cumulative marks).
    • The cutoff percentage is determined separately for each engineering discipline/stream.
    • Only shortlisted candidates are called for the next stage of selection.
  2. Centre Allotment
    • Shortlisted candidates are notified via their registered email about the allotment of Selection Centres (Allahabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar Cantt).
    • Candidates must log in to the official website to select their preferred SSB interview date, subject to availability. If not chosen within the available window, the Selection Centre allocates a date.
  3. SSB Interview
    • Stage 1: Screening Test
      • Includes an Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test and a Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT).
      • Candidates who fail to clear this stage are returned the same day.
    • Stage 2: Detailed Assessment
      • Conducted over four days by a Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and Interviewing Officer.
      • Assesses psychological traits, group dynamics, and individual personality through various tasks and interviews.
  4. Medical Examination
    • Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards for Army officers.

  5. Merit List
    • A final merit list is prepared stream-wise based on marks obtained in the SSB interview.
    • In case of a tie in SSB marks, the following criteria are applied:
      • Older candidates are ranked higher.
      • If age is also the same, higher percentage marks in the qualifying examination decide the ranking.
    • Only candidates in the merit list who meet medical fitness criteria and are within the specified vacancies are issued joining letters.
  6. Joining and Training
    • Candidates selected from the merit list are issued joining instructions for training at the Pre-Commission Training Academy (PCTA).
    • The training lasts 49 weeks and includes rigorous physical, academic, and military education.
